Tattoo Artist - BW

Welcome to Fresh Ink Tattoo IOM! We understand that getting a tattoo can be a big decision and you may have questions. Below are answers to some of the most common questions we receive:

Q: How old do I need to be to get a tattoo?

A: In the Isle of Man, you must be at least 18 years old to get a tattoo.

Q: Do I need to make an appointment or can I walk-in?

A: We recommend making an appointment to ensure that a tattoo artist is available to work with you. However, we do accept walk-ins if we have availability.

Q: How much will my tattoo cost?

A: The cost of a tattoo depends on the size, design, and placement. We provide free consultations and can give you a quote before you commit to getting a tattoo.

Q: How do I prepare for my tattoo appointment?

A: It's important to get a good night's rest and eat a meal before your appointment. Avoid alcohol and drugs as they can thin your blood and make the tattooing process more difficult. Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area you want to get tattooed. Stay hydrated: Drinking plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment will help keep your skin hydrated, making it easier for the artist to work with. Moisturize the area of the tattoo before and after the tattoo. Bring something sugary to eat or drink to your appointment (no energy drinks) Please shower before arriving at your appointment. it is important because the artist will be up close to the skin and needs clean skin.

Q: Does getting a tattoo hurt?

A: Yes, getting a tattoo can be uncomfortable and even painful, depending on the location and size of the tattoo. However, our experienced tattoo artists will do their best to minimize your discomfort and make the process as pleasant as possible. We have a television for your entertainment or music, even karaoke.

Q: How do I take care of my new tattoo?

A: We will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions after your tattoo appointment. Generally, you'll need to keep the area clean, avoid exposing it to direct sunlight, and avoid swimming or soaking in water for a few weeks while it heals.

Proper aftercare is essential for ensuring that your new tattoo heals properly and looks its best. Here are some tips for tattoo aftercare:

1. Keep the bandage on for a few hours. Your tattoo artist will likely cover your tattoo with a bandage or plastic wrap to protect it from bacteria and irritation. Leave it on for a few hours, or as directed by your artist.

2. Wash the tattoo gently. After removing the bandage, gently wash the tattoo with mild, fragrance-free soap and warm water. Use your hand to clean the area, rather than a washcloth or sponge.

3. Apply a thin layer of ointment or lotion. After washing, pat the tattoo dry with a clean towel and apply a thin layer of tattoo-specific ointment or fragrance-free lotion to help keep the skin moisturized and promote healing. Be sure to follow your artist's instructions for which products to use and how often to apply them.

4. Keep the tattoo clean and moisturized. In the first few days after getting a tattoo, it's important to keep the area clean and moisturized. Avoid tight clothing or anything that may rub against the tattoo, and keep it out of direct sunlight, tanning beds, and tanning creams. Avoid overworking the tattooed area, this can cause ink to push out of your body.

5. Avoid picking or scratching at the tattoo. As the tattoo heals, it may become itchy. However, it's important to resist the urge to scratch or pick at the area, as this can lead to scarring and other complications.

6. Be patient. It can take several weeks for a tattoo to fully heal, so be patient and follow your artist's aftercare instructions. If you notice any signs of infection or other issues, contact your artist or a healthcare professional right away.

Q: Can I bring a friend with me to my tattoo appointment?

A: Yes, you are welcome to bring a friend for support. However, please keep in mind that our studio is relatively small and we ask that you limit the number of people in the room during your appointment.

Q: What if I need a follow-up on my tattoo?

A: A free follow-up for your tattoo is possible within 3 months after your first appointment. If you think your tattoo needs a touch-up after the healing phase (6-8 weeks), feel free to contact us. We are happy to assist you in setting up an appointment for your follow-up. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us. We're happy to help!
